The founder and CEO of Abios claimed that "Esports have already surpassed most traditional sports."

At Kambi's Festival of Sportsbook, of which Gambling Insider is an exclusive partner, Fröberg discussed how the esports business has only scratched the surface in terms of betting at the 'Betting for the future generation' event.

Fröberg elaborated on the audiences and revenues of this expanding sector, noting, "There are a lot of admirers, and it's developing very quickly. It already has more viewers and fans than the majority of the world's best traditional sports.

It's bigger than most of the really popular sports, though obviously not as huge as football and other absolute top sports.

It's still early days, but esports are generating a lot of money and expanding rapidly. Over the next three to five years, we are projected to expand at a CAGR of 13.4%.

Fröberg also gave a comprehensive picture of the esports audience, stressing that the relatively youthful fandom isn't always the opinion of individuals with a better experience of esports, despite what some pundits would say.

Fröberg remarked, "It's very interesting to see that esports is such a global phenomenon, and obviously the audience is quite young." Among esports fans, 32% are between the ages of 16 and 24, and 30% are between the ages of 25 and 34, according to our most recent data. This indicates that between 16 and 34-year-olds make up 62% of the viewership.

To which I reply, "One might say that might be troubling because it's such a young audience," he added. "I'd argue the polar opposite. This demographic is just now reaching adulthood, which presents a great potential and explains why the market is so fascinating.

"It's a very digital-native audience; they're receptive to trying out new things online; they're accustomed to making purchases of services online; and their disposable income is only going up to grow."
