Card payments are being introduced to the Romanian lottery service.
Users will also have the option to pay through phone or contactless.
CEC Bank will provide point-of-sale (POS) systems to all 903 Lottery locations nationwide under the terms of the deal.
By the end of February, we should have completed the installation, and it should be compatible with cards issued in other countries.
"Implementing card payment in all our agencies is another important and necessary step in the process of digitising the Romanian Lottery and a fulfilled promise to our players," said Sebastian-Iacob Moga, general manager of the Romanian Lottery.
In accordance with all security regulations, the "pilot project on card payment" began last year in 91 agencies in Bucharest and Brasov, and was completed successfully.
The Romanian government runs the lottery. According to Romania Insider, the Lottery generates over RON1bn (€200m) annually, albeit this number consists solely of cash at present.
Although it is not yet available in Romania, the Lottery service has plans to expand its scope with an online lottery.
